6DQ believes that for a company to truly embrace Decision Quality and get the most value in their decision making, Decision facilitation should be developed in-house.
For some decision problems, individuals or teams may be in solution mode too quickly and constrained by a certain outcome or recommendation which could narrow their thinking. It is good practice to frame the decision with a multi-functional diverse team to mitigate potential bias and narrow framing and ensure the whole decision space is explored.
What is Framing? Frame is how you define the problem or opportunity, the lens you are looking through for tackling the problem. Is it wide, narrow or appropriate for the opportunity in hand? By defining what the project is before rushing in and solving saves on recycle later when project team and key stakeholders are misaligned on the intent of the project.
